No previous president would have attempted – genuinely, no previous leader would have contemplated – solo demolishing major areas of the executive mansion to build a palace-inspired entertainment space, with the active collaboration of some of the richest Americans, nearly all of which have business with federal agencies.

As confusing as it is to witness the chief executive attempt to overturn the established notion regarding democracy and replace it with its direct contrary, there remains a substantial portion of Americans who should not find it totally unfamiliar. This includes individuals like us – within elder demographics almost a majority – who were brought up as mainline Protestant Christians.
We have witnessed throughout the years as politically conservative religious groups transformed the Christ we learned about into exactly the opposite of who we understood him to be. Essentially, they converted a persona of affection into a symbol of animosity who approves specifically the brutality that he criticized in scripture; this has happened more slowly, through multiple decades instead of months, however it is still disconcerting in the same ways, a bewildering emotional blow for countless people.
A Harmful Christianity Establishes Itself

In the 1950s it was controlled via weakening – Protestantism was so prevalent that it basically baptized the status quo.
A Conflict for the Highest of Us
So I have been heartened to witness the persistent defiance against Trump arise over the last twelve months. It has provided great solace to participate in developing the movement that has demonstrated publicly through repeated demonstrations, and seems to have inspired electorate to turn out in large quantities during minor elections. We will need to persist with it, and with identical determination, with American flags at every demonstration and requests to the highest qualities within national heritage.
We shall be interrogated ... regarding how you welcomed the foreigner? Did you accept these individuals and receive them or reject?
The country is optimally secured, in other words, by reference to the highest about American history, exactly as the Christian faith is optimally secured by relationship to elements that cause it to be special and wonderful, specifically the model of Christ.
